Confined & Enclosed-Space RIT Inspection
We fly a collision-resilient drone into tanks and holds so people don’t have to enter them.
Dimensional scans of the inside of a compartment, captured at 1.3 million points per second — a model you can measure in, rather than a folder of photographs.
Dense 3D scans of the inside of a space — a navigable digital twin.
Dimensional 3D LiDAR scanning of internal structure produces dense point clouds for condition assessment, documentation, and downstream analysis — a measurable, revisitable digital twin of the space rather than photos alone.
A photograph records what a surface looked like. A point cloud records where every surface was, to within millimetres — so distances, deformations, and dimensions can be measured after the fact, from the office, without going back aboard. It also gives visual and thickness findings somewhere to live: imagery and UT readings from the same deployment are tagged to their positions inside the model.
Point clouds are exported as LAZ, LAS, or E57 and open in standard point-cloud and CAD software. Data from multiple flights is merged into a single model of the space, giving a revisitable baseline that later surveys can be compared against.
±6 mm (1σ) and ±12 mm (2σ), from 0.1% drift, at a scan rate of 1.3 million points per second and a range of up to 100 m.
LAZ, LAS, and E57 — standard point-cloud formats that open in common point-cloud and CAD software, so the data is usable without proprietary tooling.
3D LiDAR scanning is delivered under the same integrated quality and safety management system as our other work. It is offered as an added capability outside the ABS Service Supplier Recognition scope, which covers RIT close-up survey, ultrasonic thickness measurement, and hull gauging.
Most inspections combine several of these on a single deployment into the space.

Close-range survey of structure that supports classification-society survey.
We measure how much steel is left in the structure to assess corrosion and wear.
Clear, organized reports and data packages owners and surveyors can rely on.
