Confined & Enclosed-Space RIT Inspection
We fly a collision-resilient drone into tanks and holds so people don’t have to enter them.
Close-range examination of structural members as an alternative means of access — the same structure a surveyor would reach by staging or rope access, captured remotely and tagged to its position in a 3D model.
Close-range survey of structure that supports classification-society survey.
Close-up visual survey of structure, providing an alternative means of access for classification-society review. Conducted in accordance with applicable class guidance, RIT close-up survey supports survey credit — with final credit determined by the attending surveyor under class rules. Performed as an ABS Recognized Service Supplier.
Close-up survey normally requires the surveyor to examine structure within arm’s reach — which in a ballast tank or cargo hold means staging, rope access, or entry. Classification societies including ABS recognise Remote Inspection Technique as an alternative means of access for certain surveys, so the same members can be examined at close range without building access to them first.
Credit is granted by the attending surveyor under applicable class rules — no service supplier can guarantee it in advance, and Novatrace does not claim to. What we control is the quality and traceability of the evidence put in front of the surveyor: close-range imagery tagged to its exact position in a 3D model of the space, produced under controlled procedures and an integrated quality and safety management system. Performed as an ABS Recognized Service Supplier.
RIT is recognised by classification societies including ABS as an alternative means of access for certain surveys. As an ABS Recognized Service Supplier, our RIT close-up survey, UT, and hull gauging support classification-society survey credit — with final credit determined by the attending surveyor under class rules.
Close-range imagery of the structural members in scope, with each frame tagged to its location in a 3D model of the space, delivered in a combined report alongside any thickness readings taken on the same deployment.
Yes. Visual inspection and ultrasonic thickness measurement are captured on the same deployment into the space, and both findings appear in a single combined report.
Most inspections combine several of these on a single deployment into the space.

We measure how much steel is left in the structure to assess corrosion and wear.
